I get the sense that it's more the lithium market being in the toilet right now as opposed to the "unsuccessful test of the sorbent". They're not pausing the project because they can't find another, more durable, sorbent, rather because the economic returns aren't there at current prices. "Given the current depressed state of the lithium market, LithiumBank have opted to conserve capital and paused furthertesting until the market improves."
It will still come down to grades and efficient extraction like any other mining operation....Maybe the concentration of lithium in brine in Alberta is just not that great compared to say the Arcadium assets now owned by Rio in Argentina....
