They were chafing at the bit to buy Oz Minerals. Oz Minerals was always going to struggle to convert on their own. BHP has to stop paying at the top of the cycle. Perhaps they should look at a few nickel assets to pick off now while they are almost being given away. But no, they will wait until the cycle high returns and pay top price yet again. Their powerful IO cash flow has hidden years of poor capital allocation.
