Quite true, unfortunately for things to swing round we need strong Government intervention, but not intervention that has total disregard for people and the environment they live in as appears to be happening very fast in Indonesia regarding nickel development. It will just cluster the economics of nickel in one jurisdiction that is not sustainable, with one almighty crash at some point in the future. Going hard and quickly and learn along the way is a recipe for disaster if you don't have any idea or care about future outcomes.

Australian political parties do tend to be late to the party, unfortunately it doesn't help when the greens can influence policy with their power in the senate, and try and prevent certain mining ventures particularly regarding coal and gas from gaining approval, on the basis we should only support renewables but they can't give a specific time when renewables can properly replace fossil fuels that are providing base load at the present time. We have to support business and at the same time try an see what will benefit us all the most in the future. Some people post on here seem to think BHP is run by a mob of nongs that make poor business decisions and can't see the way forward, that's probably why it's only a 227billion market cap company. The best free advice you can get is follow the money.
