They don't lose money until they divest (sell or write off) an asset. The 'loss' is an accounting requirement, showing the value of the asset as at 30 June. Since that time ICI shareprice has increased which will have reduced the unrealised loss. I'm just a dabbler in this share but have traded for over 10 years, I was quite impressed to see something like 2700% increase in sales. I've never seen that with any other of my holdings.
