I had the opportunity recently to chat to some Mader employees. A considerable percentage of the workforce is sourced from interstate and feed into its main WA operations. Additional costs have been incurred in the logistics of moving that workforce around due to the covid border restrictions. This had an impact on margins in 1Q21 as seen in the accounts. 2Q21 EBITDA margin has improved significantly.
The margins from the US business appear very good. However I wonder if some of the US costs have been shifted to the corporate segment.
Purchase of 25% of Western Plant Hire is interesting.
