That Sydney - Perth train travelled as far as the delightfully named Kiacatoo (on the way to Broken Hill, just west of Condobolin and Parkes, NSW) before retracing back to the outskirts of Parkes. It's approaching Stockinbingal NSW, just north of Cootaumundra and will then travel via Albury, Benalla, the north and western Melbourne suburbs as above, the north of Geelong, across to Ararat and Adelaide and up to Port Augusta.

It's due at Port Augusta at 2118 ACDT tonight so will be at least 20 hours late, but at least those LAU railable containers will be conveyed through to Perth WA to feed those hungry WOW/MTS' IGAs/COL supermarket shelves.

There is no functioning alternative rail route between Sydney and Brisbane so that line's closure north of Coffs Harbour also due to floods s a problem.
