I researched the international honey market about three years ago before buying some shares. At the time Europe had banned honey from China because of endemic heavy metal contamination, and the US had suspended imports from Argentina and Chile because of high antibiotic levels. Both Europe and North America need to import as domestic supply is not enough for demand, and although there is ample supply from many parts of the world, Australia is one of the few trusted sources of supply. As the Asian market gradually develops a sweet tooth, world demand will increase and I think Australian honey will attract a premium price.
