Why would FMG use TBMs ?
They do use surface miners , I never thought they would work but they seem to have been using them since day 1 ,my belief they would never work stopped me investing in FMG when they went into production - more fool me .
You sure you not referring to pick design on surface miners , thinking the picks are the cutting points that rotate around a horizontal spinning cylinder, as I do not believe there are any picks on a TBM .
HGO tries using a TBM recently it only went through the portal a hundred meters or so before they reverted to drill and blast with jumbos .
