The mortgage insurance market for valuation firms is upside down at the moment, so I’d be curious to know how much insurance costs have increased and if any potential restrictions set by insurers may impact existing revenue lines. There should be an increase in valuations fees as fewer firms compete for bank work and an ogilopoly forms. Acumentis could benefit from this, however, the risk vs reward equation for mortgage valuations doesn’t make a lot of sense in my opinion at the moment, and with multiple firms being sued around Australia it’s a ‘watch this space’ market for me.
