In my humble opinion, there will be no dividend until after the BHP mines sale is announced. Same with CRN (although the media report is that CRN have pulled out of the process). Not much point paying out Australian currency of 2-10c per share and then asking for the money back in two months to pay a deposit on one of the two BHP mines.....
Separately, for me the interesting comment on the investor call this morning was the revelation that the head of Tata Steel (I think or at least another major Indian steel produce and therefore coal user) had caught up with SMR in the last few weeks. The part of the conversation that was shared on the call was that there would be continuous demand for coal going forward as India develops (and builds infrastructure) which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. However, it would surprise me greatly if the VIP Indian steel maker was in town to simply discuss coal needs in India. My suspicion is that the VIP was also in town looking for security of supply. One way to secure supply would be to enter into a joint venture with an Australian producer. And one way to enter into a JV would be to partner up to buy an existing producing and long-life asset..... Of course nothing might happen or SMR JVs with another party to put in a serious bid for the BHP assets or even SMR bids alone.
