You don’t need to transfer the shares on market. Jan could just transfer the shares to another one of her entities at market price and claim the capital loss unless she a share trader then an income loss.
Anybody can do it, even you. Just get a share transfer form, fill in and post it to the share registry. You don’t even need to pay stamp duty these days.
