The A$ remains weak (looking back in history, in 1984-85 it was sometimes at A$1.15: US$1.00) so that helps somewhat.
Increasing costs such as extremely high wages/salaries don't help, and nor do Labor governments that by and large are stupidly anti-coal and anti-natural gas.
However the European winter is only seven months away, and demand remains good by all accounts from Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and elsewhere in Asia. I'm certainly not counting on the unreliable, often hostile mainland Chinese to ride in as some modern day 'white knight'.
