This small extract speaks volumes about the reputation of NHC as a reasonable place to work. Money isn't everything: as with many subsectors, miners who work sometimes as contractors eventually, to paraphrase Matthew 13, sort the wheat from the chaff:

experienced coal mine workers and people looking to break into the industry..."

This other little piece is worthy of attention:

from a heavily sold forward sales book. Market strength is expected to persist through calendar year 2023, with the resumption of Australian
coal imports to China and positive signals for greater demand emanating from Asia.."

It's unrealistic to expect thermal coal prices to rebound to US$350/400 a tonne for New6000c, but NHC should make an impressive return even at lower prices in play. With the number of airconditioners installed in so-called 'developing countries' increasing annually, this creates Northern Hemisphere summer demand for power so it's not impossible for futures to rise somewhat from what we've seen in the last few weeks.
