I was in the Melbourne CBD store prior to noon today.
There were quite a few shopping on the ground and other floors, and the CBD itself was busier than two weeks ago, but both are clearly down on pre-COVID-19 normal.
The MYR store did not have excess staff from what I saw. Some cash registers were unstaffed, though usually afternoons are busier. I reckon MYR makes its profits on weekends. WOW for instance has stated that Sunday has now become the highest turnover retail day for it.
I agree that with the anti-business attitude of Premiers like Daniel Andrews in Victoria, it will take at least a year for the Melbourne CBD to return to normal.
Could someone report on what the Sydney CBD and MYR store there are like? I hope and assume better than Melbourne.
