From the reserve announcement of 21/11/17...

"The selected mining method is bench stoping based on 20m sublevels and stope strike lengths of 20m. The averagestope width is approximately 5m with a minimum stope mining width of 2m. Stope backfill will be a combination ofcemented rock fill (CRF) and unconsolidated waste rock fill, which enables a high recovery of ore, removing theneed to leave pillars within the orebody, and also utilising the waste rock."

Where does it say "top down"? First stope production is scheduled for Q1 FY20 so it would appear that they are developing to the bottom of a stoping block and commencing from there.

Why "notoriously expensive"? Most operations today use cemented fill and their costs are not notorious. Thalanga is relatively expensive because its throughput is low at 400ktpa.

Why "crown blasting" if one is mining downwards under engineered cemented fill?
