Hi Lilac, having only eaten bananas and seen how easily they are knocked down in a reasonably strong wind (certainly don't need cyclonic forces to knock a banana tree down) I will take your word for it that they may be heavier than my estimates. I just wrote a note earlier responding to Plough or Ozwire using 70kg. So I'll use your number of say 3 times x 40kg per tree = 120kg. At 90% water according to google searches that means to produce 20,000 tonnes (prospectus)of veneer per year (300 operating days/year) PPY would need to process 20000 tonne/year x 1000kg/tonne / (10/100) = 200,000,000kg green material. At 120 green kg per tree that means the process will need 1,700,000 banana trees/year to make 20,000 tonnes product per year or 5,600 trees per day which is 240 trees every hour for 23 hours/day. Has Walkamin got this amount of banana growing there? The more info that is coming out of PPY now the more it appears that the dream is just that, a dream!
