fooca, IWG have removed all the dates from those awards you are referencing. They are all from 2010, and 5 years is an age in Internet security terms. What have they done with those awards, plus the $2m they got from us tax payers via the now defunct Commercialisation Australia award? Made nothing but losses, according to the accounts they have filed.
The VSP product is mostly just a standard open source software setup which runs on a Linux machine. Usual Linux stuff, like Apache, MySQL and an email serverc. IWG has put an ugly user interface in front of all that, and since Linux is good with networks their marketing people can reasonably claim it can do pretty much anything. The only uniquely iWebGate product in there appears to be the VIN. It is not really any different from any other VPN other than no one could get it to work for us.
There is no firewall in the VSP and it does not do any sort of filtering. You absolutely need your firewall. I do not really understand the claim about eliminating intranets. Perhaps they are claiming that because it runs Apache you can move your intranet onto that?
