I think affinity also need to demonstrate that they can generate earnings growth out of the centres they acquire, or else there is no point running the business. I disagree about the goodwill value, but mainly because I do think that by growing earnings they have maintained or improved the value of the goodwill, so there is no reason to have any impairments, except at the selected centres that have not performed. I suspect that Affinity may have needed to write-down goodwill in some centres they have acquired - so maybeif they have chosen a particular accounting treatment -it is the most positive for them.
