Yesterday i begged an investment mate to place buy some DOW. he is very staunch re high div return and i did the calcs for him showing DOW on trk to pay 24c ffr in FY16. He was interested but had organised to kayak on Brisbane river today.
As per other thread i doubled-up yesterday morn on DOW at $3.11. SP closed at (from memory) 2.96. We already knew the FY16 NAPT result so the 24c divs was solid. Yet just after open the SP dived to 2.77!! Its mind boggling stuff. I got distracted by alerts for PRG at 1.55 popping onto screen so missed this spike down.
But there was time for folk watching SP to react. lets say you bought waay off day's low at 2.90. 24cffr + gr yield of 11.83%!! That's almost off the scale. The mkt digested the result and started climbing. Closed near day's high at 3.22. So 2.90 purchase has current CG of 11% with divs to come. Anyone buying under 2.85 has done very well.
As I wrote on DWS thread these opportunities occasionally pop up. I missed the big one through a cock-up re PRG share # but hope some here on HC grabbed a chunk this morn. There'll be a few more like this over the next 3 weeks. Just be ready for them and pounce.
