You are so right - this method would be great as an 'agnostic' tool (i.e. works for any business).
Even better when comparing similar companies within an industry (say, if you wanted to get a feel for which electricity company might be 'cheap' relative to its peers).
How do you decide what your hurdle rate should be for a given company?
Can't wait to rework some previous analysis using this method.
