I'm happy you asked. This is asked repeatedly by inexperienced companies hoping to short-cut their way to approval by saving money and time by not recruiting the standard of care arm of their trial and using historical real-world data instead. The answer is almost always "no" from regulators because trials like these have very specific inclusion and exclusion criteria which would make the population being tested in the trial potentially quite different from real world data. For this reason regulators require companies to recruit both arms under the same conditions. The only exceptions are trials in exceptionally rare diseases where there simply aren't enough patients available to satisfy recruitment. Pancreatic cancer is not one of those diseases.
