The browser-based viewer allows viewing back in time .. use it regularly to see changes - eg a construction site - or perhaps looking for a trench when an underground service was put in. Quite handy.
The AI-based change detection would also need access to historical imagery - eg a new pool put in, or tree canopy growth - or tree removed .. etc.
It is an asset one way or another, and whilst it could be written off immediately, I am sure the accountants had a say in the process.
