If I were one of the majors I might be saying don't worry about achieving a recommended offer. We'll accept anyway, just don't dilute the value by agreeing the directors long term incentive options. I think there's little justification for such brief or incompetent performances being rewarded. Of course there may be some contractual 'loss of control' clauses, no doubt their incompetent lawyers got that right.
