Im wondering how many annual and half yearly reports you read? In my opinion, For any loss making concern auditors cover themselves with the material uncertainty clause. See below for some companies I do not hold. It is common practice and it quite simple - If the company cant raise dough or start selling something profitably there will always be material uncertainty.... Read the last one first (PNV) as it gives better context....
So for those that are spooked, they need to understand this or avoid the smaller biotechs. Investors are the source of funding and until the great solution to a valuable problem that is commercially viable and subsequently successful in market. Until then there will be material concern and you and / or other investors need to continue to fund until this happens OR they go bust OR they get taken out. You will see similar context given for explorers.
