Just a reply to your comments on 20/2/24.

I was employed by a private pathology company until 1992 ( now a part of Healius ). At that stage our scientific staff were being paid more than
the public hospital lab. staff.I had a disagreement with management and parted ways at a time that they were preparing to sell out to a larger company.
At the time I thought I was in dire straights (straits?) but within a year or so I was working in a public hospital where staff were treated with a heap more respect.
Fast forward ten years and our team of scientists were being paid $15/hr more than our private lab. counterparts. People I used to work with had the arse
out of their pants cf. public hospital staff.

30 years later about 25% of my holdings are with SHL. They aren't that good an investment but I have that feeling that they are, in a way, working for me.

Way back in 1992 I used to suggest certain shares that people should buy but they were only interested in 'aloe vera' or 'plantation timbers' and other crap.
Since I retired I have been asked a couple of times to come back but that ain't gunna hapn'! - to use the vernacular.

There are a lot of Medical Science graduates from India and other countries and that is why wages in private labs will remain lower.
