I don't know the Sonic business well enough to comment exactly if this is correct or not, however, I do know there are microscopes that can transmit from a surgeon's operating table at same magnification as the lab microscopes directly to the pathologists. And currently a lot of work being done with AI to also enable diagnosis (ie identify cancer cells) to be done by the AI. This will be extremely disruptive and it is likely in the next few years - well within our lifetimes I hope!
