Yes the government estimated non farm payrolls versus the ADP ones that measures actual private payroll data. Unfortunately the government ones capture the headlines, they are estimates, they get revised all over the place, and include government jobs which are nearly always growing.

The growth in government jobs has a number of problems. It sucks labour out of the private sector, it generally pays higher labour rates forcing the price of labour up elsewhere, there is an associated increase in rules and regulations that eventually cost individuals and companies time and money, it is highly inflationary as people are paid high wages yet produce no useful goods and services - more money chasing the same stock of supply. Lastly it creates a ready made pool of left wing voters, yeah I’ve worked there and seen it in various departments.
