Gotta remember if gas gets too expensive it directly competes with electrification.
There's 3.6 GJ to 1 MW, so $12/GJ X 3.6 is $43.20/MW, and with a bit of work you can build a solar PV installation for that. If somebody proposed a gas price jump from $8 to $12 for no actual benefit I'd be looking very seriously at how I get off that gas.
