"the state to agree to keep kicking the royalties down the road."

Probably the BCB goal at this stage of the election cycle. Will get easier with a change of government and the Bowen case would make an excellent example as to why the offensive 62% marxist cash grab should be repealed. Not sure how easy it will be to change, but, this BCB football could be the one to break the ice. Regardless of the chatter on hotcopper and elsewhere, they've got a small team and this doesn't appear to be a pump'n'dump... so, it should be possible to run efficiently and provide the differential example to bureaucrats between an efficient marginal operation and an operation with fat margins which are used on "diversity" ... aka BMA.

I'm not sure how this gets fixed without unintelligent bureaucratic buffoons taking bribes, but, the higher strip ratio, complex geological and lower grade coals are not going to be mined while a one size fits all 62% cash grab is in place. The only operations who benefit from this 62% tax are those with the fat'n'flat PLV Moranbah Measures... and I feel that it's only because it excludes others from accessing rail/port facilities....
