not especially unusual. the old saying is that one penny can colour a mountain. it takes very little copper to makes stains like those in the photo.
The discovery of the Duchess lode in Carnaby ground adjacent to Hammer's ground was spectacular. The green outcrop rose above the surface and was visible from a long distance away. Read Blainey's brilliant history called "Mines in the spinifex" for the history and a great read.
