BHP took over OZ Minerals to gain access to concentrates from Prom Hill and Carrapateena to help manage copper-sulphur ratios in the OD smelter. They also get Nebo-Babel which I would guess gives them synergies with KNS. OZ had an agreement with HAV which BHP inherited and continues to fulfill.

A BHP takeover of HAV seems wishful thinking to me. I remember Dean Dalla Valle of BHP was asked about a takeover of OZL. At the time OZL was only Prominent Hill and he described it as a nice little orebody but too small for BHP. At the time PH was pumping out 100,000 tonnes of copper in con per annum.
