Its academic in a way but @bigdaddymoney is right. The gaseous output of anaerobic digestors and captured sewer gases is mixed. Other than methane it includes hydrogen sulphide (as pointed out by another poster) and various nitrogenous gases and more. The chemistry involved in stripping out these other gases is well understood and relatively straight forward and the by-products obtained have multiple purposes.
