If this is the method they proceed with it’s a ‘green’ scam. Pure and simple. They will brand it as green but it’s simply an oil recovery mechanism branded green to limit public opposition. Most Taranaki oil and condensate fields are relatively depleted, the CO2 would essentially be pumped back into the ground to sweep out more oil and gas. That gas would be used as it has been for decades to produce things like urea and methanol.

Here is the plant I’m talking about. The steam and CO2 stream from the top of those regen towers puts literally hundreds of tons of CO2 out daily.
