You can’t prove to doctors that something is inferior or superior until a direct comparison has been performed… doctors don’t know the product as well as the company might know their own product. We can do indirect comparisons in hindsight, but those are flawed by inconsistent approaches. Why would you prove your product is inferior, if you know it is inferior? I don’t really see the logic in a company with an inferior product trying to prove this is the case. Although it seems very logical to me that a company that knows its product is superior to the current standard of care would try to prove this in a study
