I worked at Gold Ridge for about 5 months.
on my last day of work I had to get choppered to the airport as the rebels had blocked the access road with logs, and they were having a gun fight with the security team.
Ross Mining got the best of the gold - good grade, oxide, close to the process plant. And even then they couldn't make money.... they were distressed sellers to Delta. Delta's due diligence was shocking as the locals came in and shut the place down at gunpoint only a short time after Delta bought it.
There is still a lot of gold there, but lower grade, sulphidic ore, acid run-off from the primary ore, a workforce with Malaria, wet season nightmares, community hassles, a tailings dam ready to overflow. You name it, Gold Ridge has it. Nice place though!
A higher gold price will resolve some of this, but how much?
