the Australian health system is not even close to world leading and I'd say it is only going to get worse now that the Albanese government agreed with India to recognise their qualifications as being equivalent to Australian qualifications.
I went to pick up a family member after elective surgery (a major Melbourne public hospital), they were trying to get him out the door as fast as possible and had called me multiple times just while I was waiting for a priority carspace outside, it would've been at most 90 mins after surgery.
Blood started pouring out of his eyes and nose while they were discharging. There wasn't a doctor in sight, nurses became completely panicked almost like they were just layman. It took a Senior nurse coming in and taking control and calling a surgeon. He stayed in hospital for 5 days after that, required blood transfusions, if I hadn't been held up for 20 mins waiting for a car park it would've likely happened in the car and I suspect he probably would've died. Other than trying to push someone out the door 90 mins after significant surgery, the next most shocking thing was how panicked the staff became, it took a senior staff member to take control and these are the people that are leaving healthcare en masse due to low pay, burnt out, retirement, etc
