Andy101 - have a look at the well logs pasted above, to the naked eye (as no detail published) porosity of ~5% across the Helium shows and much less than that across the Hydrogen shows. Porosity is essentially the space that exists in the rock for the gas to reside and flow, so obviously more space is better. Typically but not always low porosity equals low permeability as the pore spaces are not well connected, but no information on permeability provided so just a guess that it is low. At the end of the day its all about the quality of the reservoir regardless of the gas. Low porosity in very very old carbonate/sandstone/quartzite reservoir means probably will need to be fracced to get a flow. Again all just IMO based on very limited information on the reservoir chararteristics provided. Not advice - DYOR.

    Cheers
