When we first drilled Thunderbox primary material it was minging with arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite. Turned out the gold was free milling as it had been 'cooked' out of the arseno by metamorphism and sat on the sulphide grain boundaries - amenable to cyanide leach - 94% recovery in the fresh with conventional CIL. The issue was the pyrrhotite that oxidised and robbed the oxygen out of the circuit so we needed oxygen injection to maintain good recovery. I have heard on the grape vine that there is free visible gold at Hemi - so its definitely not completely refractory.
