Yes, invested in 88e unsuccessfuly for years. I initially read the article very positively, and it does appear that there are quite a few issues.
I am more familiar with mining - although I have traditionally done well with BPT. I think understanding 88E is particularly difficult - and don't think 88E is providing as useful commentary as they could.
I would definitely agree that their reports are positively biased. Normally I don't mind this - but in the case of 88E I think they should provide better clarity.
