The ASX is a matched market, so for every buy there is a sell and vice versa.
The price will go up as buyer sentiment exceeds sellers, goes down when seller sentiment exceeds buyers.
This type of price action typically occurs during periods of inactivity, some either believe it's a good entry and some are happy to go elsewhere until things kick off again. For some it's portfolio shuffling.
With over 20 billion shares on issue don't let the volume fool you.
I could be completely wrong, that's just my read.
