In order to get flow in tight reservoir, it must first be stimulated to flow, by means of a fracture.
Normal process would be a vertical fracture from a cased well. Fracturing is the work around to overcome the reluctance to flow of tight reservoir.
It was known prior to this drill that reservoir would be tight, hence the plan to return and attempt a flow test after the data confirms it could flow.
The flow test itself could be a short test of a few days, but ideally would be much longer(months) to get decline rates (limited by ice pad season duration, so probably weeks)
Following confirmation of flow in the vertical, a further larger horizontal, multi stage stimulation would be required, to confirm viable flow rates and establish the data to calculate if the reservoir is commercial.
This would need to be off a gravel pad to get the duration required, to show the longer term decline rates
