Yes that is an important question and for completeness it needs answering.
Anyway, I expect they chose to do 20 ft as indicative of the full intercept - the other alternative that they perfed the whole level and fracked the lot and only 20 ft flowed does not look viable because they would have to disclose that event.
Further, given this never ending bloody time constraint the first option seems likely to have been forced upon them.
Now here is a question for an experienced oil well driller or engineer! Does leaving the hole for a year cause drilling remnants (mud etc) to find their way into the reservoir and clog it up to make later fracking more difficult ?
All things considered I reckon today's result was somewhere in the 55% to 70% success region. Love to here comment on that.
