Generally that’s the idea of shorting. But in 88e’s case and at this stage, the sp pretty much rock bottom, company just started a new and exciting drilling project, the sp based on the past trend is on a rising trajectory, it wouldn’t make any sense for any shorters out there to come and decide to short 88e, or have taken the short position in the last couple of months.

Shorting 88e will make more sense if the sp rises to a reasonable level in the next few weeks and some one takes a gamble to short it in the hope of the drill be unsuccessful and sp collapse for them to be able buy lower to cover their short positions and make a nice profit.

So in a nutshell shorting is done when sp is high and has a lot of room to drop, otherwise the shortest wasting their time.
