Years ago, In Vic, the Gas Co sold a field full of CO2 to BOC gases to be used as an industrial gas.
Mainly CO2 but had a bit of He in it (.5% if I remember.
They were targeting CH4 but found a field full of CO2.
These days they probably get CO2 from flue gas. (Back in mid 90's they partly did that from some factory in NSW).
The field was sold for $11m back then, around mid nineties as I remember.
I did a bit of work in preparation for the sale.
even at .5% He was a lure.
CO2 is an industrial gas.
As I remember back then 100k tons per year was the annual market.
