Most current factories are configured for a certain chemistry and there's a lot of cost and time to change (could you imagine taking your battery factory offline for 6 months-1 year in this demand period?!). New chemistry technology just isn't mature enough in terms of charge/discharge capacity and rechargability/durability.

You could make a case that batteries for building energy storage could just be built heavier and bigger, but EV and phones etc simply don't have that luxury.

Eventually there probably will be some sort of innovation (as there is ongoing innovation in every sector) but can't see it happening to wide adoption within a potential mine life.
