magnetics can be interpreted in many ways. for every ~200 magnetic targets being drilled only one makes it to a discovery.
when the mineralisation is shallow a combination of drilling and magnetics is best way forward as the Geos and the geo-magnetics consultants can directly observe what drives the magnetics results. that way they can narrow down to the best targets to drill.
if the potential orebody is under few hundred meters of cover then one only has magnetics to play with as it will be too expensive to drill ~5 early stage holes. in such case you do magnetics first and if you see potential drilling target you drill 1 or 2 scout holes and hope for the best as those holes will probably be around 750m each - aka expensive.
5 RC holes with total of about 350m (combined) will probably cost around $65k. and when combined with the magnetics survey they stand to big dividends for the next round of drilling.
and for ~$65k you keep the news-flow going while completing the magnetics.
