My aim in joining AIC Mines Limited 5 years ago, after leaving Evolution Mining, was to build a new mid-tier Australian copper and gold mining company – using a similar strategy to what we used at Evolution Mining. We are progressing well on that journey and while we have not yet assembled the asset portfolio of a mid-tier miner we have assembled the people and the skills that will allow us to deliver additional assets.At Eloise we have shown that we can manage an operational turn-around and deliver reliable results – from what is arguably a difficult mine. With great leadership from Ben McInerney.Our exploration team has delivered exceptional growth at both Eloise and Jericho and I believe they are one of the most successful teams currently operating in the Mt Isa – Cloncurry region. With great leadership from Mike Taylor.To build a mid-tier copper mining company, I believe we will have to discover and develop copper mines – not just acquire them. So we are building our project development credentials on the back of the Jericho development and Eloise expansion. That team will be ready to build our next mine as soon as we acquire it or discover it.We are looking to acquire advanced exploration and near-development assets – but rest assured that we remain very disciplined in how we assess acquisitions. Any acquisition we make must be logical, opportunistic and (most importantly) value accretive. That’s hard from a 35c share price but not impossible. No pressure Duncan Bristow.
