@maxter - that's my view also and I'm always on the lookout for a low cap which might do a runner.
Just by chance my son in Sydney and daughter in Brissie chose that week for some RnR for themselves and their young families and have booked a 4 bedroom place in Sunshine Beach. J and J will join them so a short drive to Hastings Street and the conference for me.
Here is a link to the booking agent they used - scan down and you will see a few majestic homes for rent - the one illustrated on the link I send is just a short walk to the surf and Hastings Street. We took a place nearby, on Cooran Cr - see map, for the Noosa Jass Festival one year. Place was overflowing and music and food fantastic.

The Noosa Ferry takes you right into the centre of Noosa.
And also Sunshine Beach where the celebs like to bivouac - Pat Rafter's house sold for $14 mill. Away from the mayhem of Noosa and lots used to walk through the park to Cafe Le Monde for breakfast - that's the place where the surfies ate when Noosa was just a spot on the surf circuit.
