As I understand it and having dug a little the Perriam family bought the station, some 12,000 hectares in 1979. I believe it had something to do with the crown flooding the land he owned around Cromwell in the course of building the Clyde Dam, so they did a deal and the Bendigo station was the outcome. Not totally sure but I would have thought if it were on crown land it would be mentioned in the JORC document which its not. Having said that this is for the Rise and Shine JORC so don't know whether the others have similar or not. More digging.
