Great Boulder to follow-up on Saltbush gold discovery

Great Boulder Resources (ASX:GBR) is planning follow-up drilling at the Saltbush prospect at its Side Well Gold Project in Western Australia, after receiving aircore drilling results.

The company drilled 12 reverse circulation and 21 aircore holes for 2,620m, which defined shallow gold mineralisation over a 300m strike length.

Great Boulder, which has a market capitalisation of $38.43 million, says the mineralisation appears to be plunging to the northwest. The company plans to conduct reverse circulation drilling to test this plunge in the next phase of exploration.

Managing Director Andrew Paterson says Saltbush is growing and the company has sufficient confidence in the prospect to call it the first discovery in all of its new targets along the Ironbark Corridor.

“Everything we’ve seen so far suggests this zone is an Ironbark analogue, with the mafic host unit within ultramafic country rock and the same geochemistry and alteration,” Paterson adds.

“In addition to those results, our first-pass AC drilling on broad surface anomalism north of Ironbark has intersections gold grades up to 0.55 grams per tonne gold, with anomalous gold results in multiple locations.

Remember, this is AC drilling within the weathered profile so we’re not expecting ore grades in this first program. We are now planning follow-up drilling into all these targets.”

The Side Well Project is located near Meekatharra in Western Australia and covers a 28km strike extent of prospective, under-explored greenstone stratigraphy.

Great Boulder Resources is a mineral explorer focused on its gold and base metal assets in Western Australia. The company primarily focuses on the Mulga Bill deposit within its Side Well project, while also exploring for gold in Kalgoorlie and zinc-lead in the Earaheedy Basin.
